Abstract |
---|
Abstract (in English) |

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations the population will grow to 9.7 billion by 2050, and due to this fact, it will be necessary to increase agricultural production about 60 %. However, it is already nearly certain that this development will take place in a situation of changing climate and environmental degradation. So finding sustainable ways of agriculture becomes a priority throughout the European Union. One way to meet these agricultural challenges can be aquaponics, which combines crop farming and fish farming without the need to use land. In 2015 the European Parliament in one of its studies identified aquaponics as one of the technologies that can change our lives. What is the position of this new technology in the legislation of the European Union and the Czech Republic? The presented article focuses on the search of the current legal status of this activity and the analysis of the relevant legislation. |
