Abstract
n last decade an important role in the development of new materials for healthcare applications has played two-layered 1 per 1 phyllosilicate clay halloysite (HNT). HNT presents a unique combination of natural availability, good biocompatibility, high mechanical strength, and high functionality. For application in biomedicine is the most significant that HNTs are environmentally friendly and nontoxic. A further important feature of HNT is that it can be loaded with different chemically and biologically active substances into the inner and outer parts of nanotubes. Moreover, by deposition of metals and or metal oxides on external or interior HNTs wall diamagnetic HNT can be easily transformed into magnetically responsive nanomaterial. Several techniques have already been applied by our research team for magnetic modification of HNT.
