Anotace

Terwijl Nederlanders en Vlamingen doorgaans aan een korte uiting genoeg hebben om het natiolect van hun gesprekspartner te bepalen, is het voor NVT-studenten niet altijd vanzelfsprekend om Nederlands-Nederlands en Belgisch-Nederlands uit elkaar te halen. Hoe goed kunnen gevorderde studenten Nederlands een onderscheid tussen deze variëteiten maken? Welke fonetische indicatoren kennen en gebruiken ze hierbij? En wat zijn de didactische implicaties van de resultaten van de distinctietest waar 66 gevorderde studenten Nederlands aan deelnamen?

For native Dutch and Flemish speakers a short utterance suffices to determine the correct natiolect (Dutch-Dutch or Belgian-Dutch). For students of Dutch as a Foreign Language, however, this may pose some problems. To what extent are they able to distinguish correctly between Dutch-Dutch and Belgian-Dutch? Which phonetic markers do they know and use? And what are the didactic implications of the results of the distinction test in which 66 upper intermediate and advanced students of Dutch took part?
