TY - JOUR ID - 1858658 AU - Karbanová, Alice PY - 2022 TI - Analogy and convergence between the cognitive processing of textual meaning and music: theoretical considerations of a song as a complex semiotic object PB - University of Essex, UK CY - Essex, UK KW - Song Perception, Musical Semantics, Cognitive Functions, Modules, Specificity UR - https://www.essex.ac.uk/departments/language-and-linguistics/events/langue N2 - The paper investigates whether language and music compete for processing resources during the perception and interpreting of a song. By reviewing the evidence bearing on a selection of experimental studies on the music-language interface it attempts to establish which representations become predominant and steer the interpretation in the song listening. Related issues, such as the question of domain-specificity and overlapping representations are addressed in an attempt to shed light on the processing of semantics of a song. ER -
