Anotace

Het magnum opus van Harry Mulisch, De ontdekking van de hemel, werd pas in 2010 in het Tsjechisch gepubliceerd, achttien jaar na het verschijnen van het origineel. De Tsjechische vertaling, getiteld Objevení nebe, werd uitgegeven door de gerenommeerde uitgeverij Odeon in Praag, die daarvoor opdracht gaf aan de vooraanstaande Tsjechische vertaalster Veronika ter Harmsel Havlíková. De Tsjechische uitgave kwam niet als een donderslag bij heldere hemel, maar was het resultaat van een lang proces. Objevení nebe is het vijfde en laatste boek van Mulisch dat in het Tsjechisch is verschenen. De eerste Tsjechische vertaling van Mulisch verscheen al in 1986, vertaald door de “grande dame” van de Neerlandistiek in Tsjechië, wijlen Olga Krijtová. Haar oud-leerlinge, Veronika ter Harmsel Havlíková, nam na haar geleidelijk de vertaalestafette over.

Harry Mulisch's magnum opus, The Discovery of Heaven, was not published in Czech until 2010, eighteen years after the original was published. The Czech translation, entitled Objevení nebe, was published by the renowned Odeon publishing house in Prague, which commissioned the eminent Czech translator Veronika ter Harmsel Havlíková. The Czech release did not come like a bolt from the blue, but was the result of a long process. Objevení nebe is Mulisch's fifth and last book to be published in Czech. The first Czech translation of Mulisch appeared in 1986, translated by the “grande dame” of Dutch Studies in the Czech Republic Olga Krijtová. Her former student, Veronika ter Harmsel Havlíková, gradually took over the translation relay after her.
