Researchers' careers have become extremely diversified, more than two-thirds of Ph.D. holders leave academia for the private after obtaining their degree, with an additional percentage doing so just after a short-term contract. International standardization is necessary for the simplification and visibility of knowledge, science, and innovation markets. The process confirms the Doctorate as the highest university distinction. Simplification and expansion created a chain reaction of rapid structural transformations, happening worldwide, which kept a certain level of excellence and competitiveness. Desired is relative coherence in the training of future elites, offering a great diversity in career perspectives. Innovation and the creation of a knowledge society have become the key elements of future social mutations. EURODOC, at the heart of this question, is a privileged witness to theses transformations. Our motions and policy papers on career development reflect some hidden aspects of this evolving reality, strengthened by a huge diversity of case studies and data shared and elaborated by the broad pool of experience characterizing the Council.
