Abstract

Z hlediska areálové lingvistiky je moderní řečtina ještě s několika dalšími jazyky specifická v tom, že se zkoumá či zvažuje její zapojení hned ve třech jazykových svazech: balkánském, evropském a mediteránním. Tyto tři oblasti bádání se však mezi sebou liší v délce výzkumné tradice, stupni teoretické rozpracovanosti a vykonané práce deskriptivní i interpretační, a nakonec tak i ve výpovědní síle. Cílem tohoto článku je stručně shrnout historii zkoumání řečtiny z této trojí perspektivy. Položení uvedených výzkumných oblastí vedle sebe a jejich porovnání umožňuje lépe si povšimnout metodologických problémů, se kterými se potýká areálová lingvistika jako taková. Po diskusi těchto otázek, spojené se zkoumáním místa, které řečtina ve zmíněných jazykových svazech na základě různých přístupů zaujímá, naznačujeme závěrem ten způsob výzkumu, který v areálové lingvistice považujeme za aktuálně nejpřínosnější.

Abstract (in English)

From the perspective of areal linguistics, Modern Greek, along with several other languages, is specific in that its involvement in three linguistic areas is being considered: the Balkan, European and Mediterranean. However, these three research areas differ in the length of the research tradition, the degree of both the theoretical elaboration and the descriptive and interpretative work carried out, and consequently in the power of their statements. This paper aims to briefly summarize and critically assess the history of research on Greek from these three perspectives, including the mutual intersections between the three linguistic areas. Placing these research areas side by side and comparing them allows us to better understand the methodological problems faced by areal linguistics. After discussing these questions, together with an examination of the place that Greek occupies in the mentioned linguistic areas, we conclude by suggesting the method of research that we consider to be the most promising at present in areal linguistics.
