Due to coupling of the bedrock (immature karst) with site-specific depositional and hydrological situation, the sediment-filled karst depression (=ḥayl, pl. ḥuyul) has been a unique place for the natural species and prehistoric visitors inside the eroded heights of the Jebel Kawr in the central part of Al-Hajar Mts. A large number of stone artefacts from different periods made not always of local raw materials show that Hayl Ajah (1012 m a.s.l.) and surrounding, smaller ḥuyul were popular places during various prehistoric periods.
