Abstract

In English

In 1990 Gustav Wilhelm published a book entitled Joseph Hardtmuth 1758—1816: Architekt und Erfinder [Joseph Hardtmuth 1758—1816: Architect and Inventor]. Based on his research in the Liechtenstein family archives, he offered a summary of Hardtmuth’s known and newly discovered projects as well as his technical innovations. Gustav Wilhelm’s book immediately became a basic source of information for numerous popular and specialist studies and publications. However, the attention devoted to the subject by other scholars gradually produced new findings, and three decades after the book’s publication, a new summary, update, and review of what we know about Hardtmuth’s!architectural work is needed. The result of the efforts in this regard is the present book.
