Anotace
Individuals with intellectual disabilities face difficulties in accessing and using health services. The report presents the result of the research based on the analysis of opinions and knowledge about health protection and promotion in children with intellectual development disorders in four countries (12 – 18 years old and adolescents with mild and moderate disorders). We focus on this issue within the international project Erasmus + Developing a Higher Education Curriculum in SET Teaching for the Health Protection and Promotion of Intellectually Disabled Individuals implemented in four countries: the Czech Republic, Turkey, Portugal, and Slovenia. The methodology was based on a qualitative approach with the descriptive-interpretive method. We focused on several specific areas by using an open-ended questionnaire: feeding, sleeping, personal hygiene, sexual health, contagious diseases prevention, first aid, emergency strategies, physical activity, and tech innovation to promote health. The sample consisted of various target groups with different perspectives, such as health professionals, NGO representatives, special needs teachers, curriculum development experts, academics, special education students, and individuals with intellectual development disorders. In total, 75 participants completed the survey in each country. The analysis shows the importance of this issue for families with children with intellectual development disorders and teachers and the lack of a systematic approach.
