Anotace

The second volume of the textbook Medical Biology covers basic knowledge of human genetics and genomics and selected chapters from molecular medicine. This textbook aims to help medical students learn, understand, and review these extensive fields of medical sciences. The first part of the textbook is focused on Mendelian Inheritance, autosomal and X-linked Inheritance, and chromosome abnormalities. The following chapters are on multifactorial inheritance, genetic linkage, and population genetics. Another part of the book is dedicated to human genomics and includes the chapters describing the human genome and genomic techniques, epigenetics, and immunogenetics. The field of molecular medicine is represented by the chapters on cancer biology and the application of cancer biology to diagnostics and therapy, on human microbiome, gene therapy, and stem cells and regenerative medicine and human ontogeny. The textbook is also complemented by clinical notes and molecular case studies relevant to concrete chapters to help students practice basic knowledge of the field.

Druhý díl učebnice lékařské biologie shrnuje základní poznatky a principy lidské genetiky a genomiky a vybrané kapitoly molekulární medicíny. Je určen pro všechny studijní směry na lékařských fakultách, především však pro studenty prvního ročníku programů všeobecné lékařství a zubní lékařství. První část učebnice pojednává o úloze genetiky v medicíně, Mendelových zákonech, autozomální a gonozomální dědičnosti a chromozomálních poruchách. Zahrnuty jsou rovněž kapitoly zaměřené na multifaktoriální dědičnost, genovou vazbu a populační genetiku. Následuje část věnovaná lidské genomice a kapitoly popisující lidský genom a metody jeho studia, epigenetiku a imunogenetiku. Z oblasti molekulární medicíny je věnována speciální pozornost nádorové biologii a aplikaci jejich poznatků v diagnostice a léčbě, genové terapii, lidskému mikrobiomu a problematice kmenových buněk, tkáňového inženýrství a ontogenezi člověka. Celou učebnici uzavírá kapitola o vývojové biologii. Učebnice je doplněna řadou klinických poznámek či molekulárních případových studií poukazujících na klinické přesahy konkrétních kapitol a také množstvím názorných schémat a ilustrací.
