Le lexème bolos est désormais très connu, mais son origine est toujours discutée. L’apparition récente en argot d’un lexème synonyme, flocko, emprunté au baoulé, relance la piste des langues africaines. Bolos pourrait venir du bambara où bólokobali est “un homme incirconcis” ainsi qu’une insulte. En déroulant le fil de cette hypothèse et en prenant pour exemples les néologismes morray et go, nous discutons du rôle de l’étymologie et des vecteurs de diffusion dans la pratique néographique.

The lexeme bolos is widely recognized, yet its origin continues to be debated. The recent emergence in slang of a synonymous lexeme, flocko, borrowed from Baoulé, reopens the question of African languages. Bolos may have originated from Bambara, where bólokobali is "an uncircumcised man" as well as an insult. Unraveling the thread of this hypothesis and examining the neologisms morray and go, we discuss the role of etymology and channels through which new words are spread in neographic practice.
