Cet article examine l'insularité dans La vie de Joséphin le fou d’Ananda Devi en utilisant une approche écocritique pour analyser les dynamiques entre nature, humanité et métamorphose. L'espace insulaire est crucial dans le roman, structurant la narration et les expériences du personnage principal, Joséphin. La relation entre l'île, la mer, la cabane et la grotte révèle des tensions entre isolement et connexion, et entre enfermement et libération. La métamorphose de Joséphin en un être océanique illustre sa transformation radicale et sa perte d'humanité. Ananda Devi explore des thèmes profonds de violence, de marginalisation et de notre relation avec l'environnement.

This article examines the concept of insularity in Ananda Devi’s La vie de Joséphin le fou through an ecocritical approach, analyzing the dynamics between nature, humanity, and metamorphosis. The insular space is crucial in the novel, structuring the narrative and the experiences of the main character, Joséphin. The relationship between the island, the sea, the hut, and the cave reveals tensions between isolation and connection, and between confinement and liberation. Joséphin’s metamorphosis into an oceanic being illustrates his radical transformation and loss of humanity. Ananda Devi explores profound themes of violence, marginalization, and our relationship with the environment.
