Abstract (in English)
Psychological examinations on the occasion of listing children for special schools were dealt with by the Czech Government on 29 October, 1997 and the Resolution No. 686/1997 adopted on that occasion obliged the Ministry of Education to prepare new materials for testing children on the occasion of listing them for special schools. A working group consisting of experts in psychology was established at the Ministry of Education. The first step towards improving childrens psychological diagnostics recommended by the working group was standardising WISC for the Czech population. The methodological guide WISC-III-UK presents the results of the standardisation research. It includes, among other things, a critical revision of the wording of the instructions, test items and scoring instructions, as well as the norms and other psychometric properties and a comparison of the Czech and British test norms. Psychologists are advised to use the manual published by Psychodiagnostika Brno in combination with the Methodological Guide to be published by the Institute for Pedagogical and Psychological Counselling of the Czech Republic.
