Anotace anglicky

Trade names appeared after 1875 and deviations in spelling after 1900. About six per cent of a corpus of 75,000 British trade names is based on changes in spelling. The changes fall into three groups: (i) the change is from the periphery of the graphemic system to its centre (e.g. TUF, about 75 per cent of all changes), (ii) the change is within the centre or within the periphery (NIT, FEENIX), (iii) the change is from the periphery into the centre (e.g. BILT). The analysis shows that spelling deviations in British trade names do not agree with Axel Wijks suggestions for a spelling reform, as Sven Jacobson claims. Less frequently we can find spelling deviations in the names of racing horses.
