The reaction of N3,N3-(3-oxapentan-1,5-diyl)-N1-(2-phenyl-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-yliden)thiourea with 4-methoxyphenacyl bromide afforded either the kinetically controlled reversible reaction product N4-[5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-oxathiol-2-yliden]-(2-phenylquinazolin-4-yl)-amine or the thermo-dynamically controlled reaction product 4-[4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-5-(2-phenylquinazolin-4-yl) -4,5-dihydro-1,3-thiazol-2-yl]morpholine via domino-reaction by two different reaction pathways.
