This contribution reports on experimental studies of diffuse DBDs in mixtures of nitrogen with noble gases argon, helium and neon. The discharge voltage and current are measured. Spatio-temporally resolved optical emission spectroscopy is performed. The aim of this work is the investigation of the transition between the Townsend- and the glow-like mode of diffuse DBDs. The discharge remains in the diffuse mode until a relative high admixture of noble gases. ER -
