Abstract

V tomto příspěvku se autor pokouší o aplikaci konceptu "vymístění" (displacement) na teorii konstrukce a symbolické reprezentace národní identity. Autor vychází z předpokladu, že mechanismus vymístění, chápaný šířeji než pouhá fyzická dislokace, hraje v procesu konstrukce kolektivní identity klíčovou roli. V textu analyzuje toto "symbolické vymísťování" příklady sporů o interpretaci české historie v průběhu 20.století a proměn její "oficiální" verze, doprovázené zpravidla proměnami národních identifikátorů.

Abstract (in English)

The aim of this paper is to outline some possibilities of application of the general sociological concept of displacement on the theoretical field of construction and symbolic representation of national identity. Using some examples from the history of the modern Czech nation, the author describes the never-ending battle over the hegemonic version of national history and identity, which is lead by means of inventing, reproducing and displacing their symbolic representations. The author tries to demonstrate that regardless how successful the displacement of the symbols physical attributes might be, their meaning is usually carried in the collective memory for much longer time and serves for questioning the current canonic version of national identity.
