Abstract
The article discusses the myth of critical theory as undermined in novels by David Lodge, A.S. Byatt and Malcolm Bradbury and recently exploded by Valentine Cunningham in his forward-looking study Reading After Theory (2002).

Autorka poukazuje na debatu v románech Davida Lodge, A.S. Byattové a Malcolma Bradburyho, kterou romanopisci vedou se současnými trendy v literární vědě zaměřené na kritickou teorii. Podporu pro argumenty na straně romanopisců nachází v kritické studii Valentina Cunninghama Čtení po teorii (2002), která odhaluje mýtus kritické teorie.
