Abstract

The paper focuses on the issues of maladaptation of children in the school environment, which can be associated with their academic failure. An empirical study was conducted, aimed on the relationships of anxiety, depression, adaptation problems, and academic failure. The sample of children aged between 10 and 15 year completed the Depression scale of the Child Behavior Checklist by T. M. Achenbach and C. Edelbrock, the child version of the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Scale and a nomination technique for school class. Internalized and externalized problems in children s behavior were identified; these problems might be interconnected and associated with school achievement. There is a prospect to successful correction of the adaptation problems due to developing self-reflection at the children.

Abstract (in Czech)

Příspěvek je věnován otázkám maladaptace dětí v prostředí školy, která může souviset s jejich akademickými neúspěchy. Byla realizována empirická studie vztahu úzkosti a deprese a adaptačních problémů dětí v prostředí školy i jejich školní podvýkonnosti. K výzkumu dětí ve věku 10 – 15 let jsme použili tyto metody: škálu depresivity z Dotazníku poruch chování dítěte T. M. Achenbacha a C. Edelbrocka, Škálu na měření úzkosti a úzkostnosti u dětí C.D. Spielbergera a nominační techniku ke skupinovému výzkumu školních tříd. Byly potvrzeny tzv. internalizované a externalizované poruchové tendence v chování dětí, které se mohou vzájemně ovlivňovat a souvisí se školní výkonností. Vzhledem k vyvíjející se schopnosti sebereflexe se u dětí existuje šance jejich adaptační problémy úspěšně korigovat.
