TY - JOUR ID - 716014 AU - Tomandl, Josef - Pařenica, Jiří - Táborská, Eva - Špinarová, Lenka - Čermáková, Zdeňka - Špinar, Jindřich PY - 2007 TI - Neopterin and oxidative stress in patients with heart failure PB - Mind and Helth, civil association CY - Bratislava SN - 9788096966325 KW - heart failure KW - oxidative stress KW - neopterin KW - cell-mediated immunity N2 - Recent data suggest among others that inflammation and oxidative stress may be associated with the development of heart failure. Neopterin is a sensitive marker for disease involving activated cell-mediated immune system in humans and besides induce oxidative stress in vitro. The aim of our study was to determine neopterin levels in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and chronic heart failure (CHF) and find a possible relationship with parameters of oxidative stress. The results of our study confirm an existence of T-lymphocyte activation, more in patients with ischemic origin of heart failure than cardiomyopathy. Moreover, cell-mediated activation of immune system might be independent on the time of progression of ischemic heart failure. ER -
