Abstract
The aim of this study was to demonstrate temporal variations of quality of the air in 10 sites in urban area and to assess potential ecological and human health risks. Air samples were collected by passive air samplers in 8 campaigns at 10 selected sites in Zlín district, Czech Republic. Chemical results were compared in dependence on temporal and spatial variations with chemical analysis of conifer needles that can be useful to evaluate longterm influence of pollution sources. Biological effects were detected using genotoxicity test and results indexing was used for ecological risk assessment. Passive air sampling method coupled with a biological system and chemical analyses proved to be a sensitive tool for monitoring of air pollution and potential ecological and health risks including seasonal variations. This project was supported by Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic MSM 0021622412 INCHEMBIOL.
