Despite remarkable improvement in the recent years, industry still has a negative impact on the environment both in particular locations and in the vicinity of roads where raw materials and ready products are transported. The crisis situations in the environment at which the lives and the possessions are endangered are the present reality. Their occurrence, course and impacts can be mitigated by a number of measures within a wide spectrum of community spheres, and their benefits can be exploited in the phases of prophylaxis, rescue and remedy within the crisis situation. In all those phases, modern geoinformation technology, high-quality geographical information and formalized expert knowledge are applied. Geographical information, knowledge and experience can be applied for the territory assessment to evaluate a tendency to harmful effect and/or process, for planning the optimized intervention in its possible incidence, during solution of a real event and also during remediation of a territory during rehabilitation of damages. More objective, faster and more illustrative results can be achieved by applying geoinformation technologies which allow working the crisis management in all its phases more effectively. The Czech Republic (ČR) belongs to the countries where chemical industry has been significantly developed. Many chemical substances which are produced on this territory are dangerous for human and the environment (i.e. dangerous chemical substances, DCS). Nowadays, the accidents and releases of DCS belong to non-negligible risks. It is evident that in the area of transport of DCS there are a number of legislative and technical drawbacks in the Czech Republic. Missing data about who, what, which way, where and what quantity is transported belongs to the critical drawbacks. It is the monitoring of transport itself and automatic, if possible, what is missing now. Only based upon such information, the basic bodies of the Integrated Rescue System (IRS) are able to intervene quickly and adequately if this is necessary due to danger related to transport of dangerous substance.
