Abstract
The Greek theonym Charon remains without any Greek or Indo-European etymology. In the article is the name explained as an adaptation of the West Semitic theonym Hawran, belonging to a chthonian deity of the Ugaritic epics.

Řecké theonymum Charon zůstavá bez řecké nebo indo-evropské etymologie. Článek vysvětluje jméno jako slovo převzaté ze západo-semitského theonyma Hawran, které náleželo chtonickému bohu ugaritských eposů.
