Abstract

Text se věnuje otázce věkových norem - implicitních, formálních a reprodukčních a doprovodným sankcím. Vychází z 31 kvalitativních rozhovorů.

Abstract (in English)

This paper is based on project Ageing, age and discrimination new context for Czech society(GAČR 403/06/1647) and develops the concept of age norms in Czech socio-cultural context. We open our discussion with an overview of the theory of age norms, its definitions and empirical measurement. In the empirical part we use data from 31 qualitative, semi-structured interview addressing age, age norms and age related behaviour within the life cycle. Our informants were selected with the respect to diverzity in terms of sex, age group, and cohort and generation membership. Introducing examples of three types of age norms :implicit, formal and reproductive, we illustrate variability of normative sanctions accompanying nonconformity. In the discussion we offer some thoughts on the role of cohort approach in further development of the age norms concept and their role as an important part of the social structure.
