Recenzní esej ukazuje sborník shrnujícího hlavní metodologické přístupy zkoumání postkomunistických zemí v kontextu postkomunistických studií.

Anotace anglicky

In contemporary political studies of Central and Eastern Europe, there is a clear demand for a synthesis of numerous scientific disciplines, particularly economics, political science, history, sociology and psychology. The collection of eleven articles called "Capitalism and Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe" offers a good example of fullfiling such a demand. Moreover, the enduring disputes on appropriateness and usefulness of various methodological approaches is discussed and a new, institutionalist approach is introduced. It is based on the synthesis of the techniques of rational-choice theory and historical and cultural bias of area studies. Key concepts of contextual comparison such as core-term legacy and the utilization of these methods in further "case studies", is presented and discussed in this review.
