N2 - The paper aims to discuss advantages and drawbacks of videoconferencing, since a one-off purchase of videoconferencing equipment may be not only cost-saving but also time-saving, since moving to geographically distant areas and locations may be easily avoided. Furthermore, it also tackles the issue of space or the position of participants from economically less-developed countries. Eventually, the proportion of invested financial means is compared to the potential range and size of videoconferences, while aiming to promote them as a full-value means of professional communications within the scientific community and general public.
