V současnosti je zaznamenáván celosvětově nepříznivý trend zvyšující se prevalence meticilin rezistentních kmenů stafylokoků, zejména Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Výskyt kmenů MRSA byl kromě humánní populace zjištěn i u zvířat, včetně potravinových. Článek předkládá informace o nálezech MRSA u zvířat a jejich ošetřovatelů. Autoři prezentují doposud popsané kmeny MRSA izolované na území České republiky ze zvířat . Informace o aktuální epizootologické situaci v chovech hospodářských zvířat nejsou zatím k dispozici.

Nowadays, a globally unfavourable increasing trend of prevalence of methicillin resistant staphylococci strains especially Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is being detected. The occurence of MRSA strains was found out not only in humans, but also in animals (including food production ones). This article submits reports about findings of MRSA in animals and their staff. Authors summarise so far described MRSA isolates from animals in the Czech Republic. At present, Czech Republic has no available overall information on epizootic situation of MRSA in animals.
