One of the main disadvantages of this test are false positive results that might be caused by many factors (administration of antibiotics, gluconate-containing solutions etc.). To be able to recognise false positive results in short time is of a great medical interest. One of the possibilities is to confirm the detection of GM by detection of other “panfungal” antigen – 1,3-beta-D-glucan (BG) – in the sample. ER -
