Abstract

V originále

Allergy and asthma belong to chronic diseases of the present day. Allergy is defined as an exaggerated, excessive reaction by the organism immune system to common substances which we normally contact in our environmnent. It is caused by an improper activation of antibodies of the imunoglobulins E group (IgE) in response to a certain allergen. The spectrum of allergic reactions symptoms is very wide, from ordinary runny nose to anaphylactic schock which could even result in death. The immune system of a person fails. It is always related to a strong hereditary disposition. After an initial exposure to an antigen, the immune system of the person reacts excessively, even severely. It is the hypersensitivity of the reaction that exhausts the organism and causes harm to health of a person. The article discusses the role which a school should play in health support for pupils who suffer from chronic immune system disorders. By anonymous questionnaires method class masters of selected basic schools in South Moravia Region were questionned whether and how they are informed about having pupils with immune system disorders. Further the questionnaires explored the suitability of the school environments to such chronically ill pupils.
