In 2011, the new concept of standardised leaving examination will be implemented in the Czech Republic. For higher-secondary teachers this brings forward a new challenge of standardised language testing which is a field that has not been adequately tackled so far by either educators themselves or the Czech academia. Apart from comprehending specific language testing theories, there has arisen a need for practical training of teachers to provide them with ample competencies and strategies in order to both carry out an oral exam and at the same time apply standardised assessment. This paper focuses on highlighting demands and challenges that the teachers are facing as well as introducing a new project of tester training focused on helping interlocutors-to-be to acquire necessary testing skills. The project and its presentation have been supported by the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University scholarship fund.
