Abstract

V originále

The posttraumatic growth (PTG) is an important and up-to-date subject of positive psychology. The study has undertaken to analyze perceived psychological benefits and looses in parents of childhood cancer survivors 2 to 9 years after the treatment. Its main goal was to identify the main domains of a parents PTG and examine their bio-psycho-social factors and determinants. We used free responses method for description and subjective evaluation of positive and negative influence of childs illness on particular domains of family life (health, social relations, values, belief and others). The content analysis of parents subjective statements lead to an identification of main domains of positive and negative impact of childs illness on their quality of life. Main domains of PTG (changed perception of self, realization of new possibilities, changes in interpersonal relations, greater respect for life and changes in spirituality) were distinguished. The results of our study suggest important interconnection of positive and negative effects of the demanding life situation.
