Abstract
The paper deals with the tourism development in the Czech Republic in the last twenty years and tries to identify the most important processes that led to the development of mass forms of tourism. On the example of the capital city Prague, authors point out the impacts of tourism and moreover search for causal relationship between the impacts of tourism and the process of economic transition. The subject of the analysis and evaluation is the development of the nature and structure of tourism demand and its influence on changes in the functional-spatial structure of the tourism supply.
