Abstract

Vydání antických a raně středověkých pramenů k nejstarším dějinám našeho území (včetně Slovenska) obsahuje originální znění i české překlady. Při překladu pramenů byl zvolen ryze filologický přístup, aby byly texty přiblíženy v co nejvěrnější podobě i zájemcům neznalým klasické řečtiny či latiny. Jednotlivé prameny sahají od 4. stol. př. Kr. až do 8. stol. po Kr. (ve výjimečných případech). Vzhledem k výlučnosti některých pramenů poskytuje publikace čtenáři také důležité základní informace ke každému z nich; tak vznikly medailonky jednotlivých starověkých a raně středověkých autorů.

Abstract (in English)

The present edition of ancient and early medieval sources on the oldest history of the territory of the Czech Republic (and Slovakia) includes texts in both their original languages and Czech translations. In order for the texts to be accessible in their most authentic form to readers without any knowledge of Classical Greek or Latin, a purely philological method of translation has been chosen. Individual sources cover the period between the fourth century BC and the eighth century AD (only in exceptional cases). Because of the exclusive character of some of the included sources, general information about each of them is provided, including profiles of the ancient and early medieval authors under reference.
