Abstract
The paper deals with the question what patterns determine the Greek sentence structure and word order. The first part focuses on linguistic methods which can help to analyse Greek sentence structure, the second part focuses on the organization of Greek discourse itself. The function of discourse markers "de" and "kai" in the sentence structure organization is exemplified.
