Abstract

V originále

The paper firstly deals with the status of particles in Byzantine grammatical treatises and with their categorization within word class system; in the second part, the paper goes over to late Byzantine period and discusses the usage of particles in Nikephoros Blemmydes’ rhetorical essay Basilikos Andrias, which was written in the high-style Greek of the period. The juxtaposition of its metaphrase - written in different, obviously lower language register - assists in getting a more precise picture of particle usage in high-style Greek of the late Byzantine period.
