TY - JOUR ID - 947659 AU - Nehyba, Slavomír PY - 2011 TI - Coarse grain deltas along the margins of the peripheral foreland basin (Neogene, Carpathian Foredeep) PB - International Association of Sedimentologists CY - Zaragoza SN - 9788461517558 KW - coarse grain deltas, peripheral foreland basin N2 - Coarse grain deltas located along both “active” and “passive” margins of the foreland basins differ in provenance. Provenance study is based on the pebble analyses, heavy minerals associations, and garnet and rutile geochemistry. Gravels are polymict and the composition of each delta body is strongly influenced by the local sources (Precambrian crystalline rocks, Palaeozoic graywackes and shales, Mesozoic carbonates). Abundant presence of intraclasts (sometimes several m in diameter) reflects cannibalisation of the older basin infill. ER -
