Kniha Prezident republiky se zabývá tímto vrcholným státním orgánem z právního pohledu. Jde o první monografii o našem prezidentu republiky po knize Československý prezident republiky z roku 1934. Kniha se zabývá tímto úřadem uceleně – volba, slib, zabezpečení výkonu funkce, odpovědnost prezidenta, kontrasignace, zastupování prezidenta, jeho sídlo a vlajka. Podstatu knihy tvoří část věnovaná pravomocem a právům prezidenta. Zde jsou uváděny i případy, které vyvolaly právní či politické diskuze jako je spor o ratifikaci mezinárodních smluv, jmenování soudců, součinnosti s vládou atd. Zmíněny jsou i příklady obdobných problémů v naší historii (odmítnutí jmenování kandidáta na post ministra zahraničí navrženého předsedou vlády prezidentem E. Benešem) i v zahraničí (odmítnutí premiérových návrhů ze strany slovenského a německého prezidenta). Kniha vyjadřuje stanovisko, že prezident republiky u nás je významný státní i politický činitel a ne pouhý notář. Postavení prezidenta ve vztahu k vládě je určováno i politicky, nejen právně. Má-li vláda slabou parlamentní podporu, vzrůstá vliv prezidenta. Je-li vláda silná, má to vliv i na faktické postavení prezidenta republiky. Významné je i to, že u nás byly prezidenty významné politické osoby. Předmluvu ke knize napsal prezident republiky Václav Klaus.

The book President of the Republic focuses on this top state body from the legal point of view. It is the first monograph about the president of the Czech Republic since the title Czechoslovak President of the Republic was released in the year 1934. This book copes with this state body in a very comprehensive way – election, oath, performance of the function, presidential liability, countersignature, representation of the president, his seat and flag. The essence of this book is created by the parts dedicated to rights and duties of the president. Cases which provoked legal or political discussions, like the dispute on ratification of the international treaties, on appointing the judges or on cooperation with the government, are mentioned as well. This book stands on the opinion that the president is an important both state and political person and not only a registrar. The position of the president towards the government is created not only legally but also politically. If the support of the government is weak, then the influence of the president rises. If there is a strong government, the factual position of the president is influenced. In the Czech Republic there occurs the determining factor that important political persons became Czech presidents. The foreword is written by the president of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus.
