Olympijské výkony vybraných skupin běžců (v bězích na 800 a 1500 m) jsou porovnávány se světovými rekordy i mezi sebou navzájem. Autoři dospěli k závěrům, že je průkazný vztah (alfa = 0,05) mezi vývojem světových a olympijských rekordů v období 1896 - 2004. Dále autoři popisují, že rozdíly mezi účastníky finálových běhů OH (při historickém rozdělení období konání her do 3 púeriod: 1896- 1928, 1936 - 1976, 1980 - 2004)mají tendenci k vyšší homogenitě (tedy rozdíly v dosažených časech mezi 1.-3., 1.-6. a 1.-8. závodníkem se v průběhu času výrazně zmenšují). Poslední v textu popsané zjistění odpovídá na otázku, na kterém kontinentu je reálné hledat nejvíce finalistů v bězích na 800 a 1500m v jednotlivých olympijských cyklech. Z výslůedků vyplývá, že v posledních desetiletích je patrný ústup estup evropských běžců a nástup Afričanů. ER -
