Anotace

Satellite imagery became a standard component of geographical atlases since the beginning of space research using artificial Earth satellites regardless automatic or human controlled ones. Satellite images provide the users with unusual kind of information. They play mostly a complementary role in atlas with exception of specialized satellite atlases. They demonstrate all the advantages and disadvantages of the remote sensing of the Earth. The informational and educational value of available satellite atlases published in selected countries of the world was tested with geography pupils and students before and after they passed the subject of remote sensing during their study. The questionnaire research results support the idea that the informational value of atlases growths with the level of independent knowledge about the remote sensing at all. For specially uneducated readers, satellite atlases play mostly a balanced aesthetical-visual role.

Družicové snímky se staly běžnou součástí geografických atlasů již od počátků kosmického výzkumu za použití umělých družic Země, ať již šlo o umělé nebo pilotované družice. Družicové snímky poskytují neobvyklý zdroj údajů. Většinou v atlasech hrají doplňkovou roli, s výjimkou specializovaných družicových atlasů. Informační a vzdělávací hodnota dostupných družicových atlasů zveřejněných v různých zemích světa byla studována za přispění žáků a studentů zeměpisu základních, středních a vysokých škol bez ohledu na to, zda již z předchozí výuky mají povědomí o dálkovém průzkumu Země. Výsledky vlastního dotazníkového šetření podporují názor, že hodnota těchto atlasů roste v souladu s úrovní vzdělanosti dotazovaných, ovšem bez ohledu na specializaci v DPZ. Méně vzdělaným čtenářům poskytují vyváženou věcně estetickou informaci.
