Abstract

Václav Klaus bývá svými kritiky často označován za jeden z polarizujících prvků české politické scény. V tomto kontextu jsou diskutována i jeho veřejná vystoupení, která jsou mnohdy chápána jako kontroverzní. V našem příspěvku se proto zaměřujeme na analýzu jeho projevů od roku 1995 až do současnosti, přičemž naším cílem je identifikace prvků, kterými k této polarizaci případně přispívá. Předmětem zájmu autorů jsou proměny v rétorických figurách, ve způsobu výstavby textu (popř. konfliktu) a obsahu obecně v závislosti a) na čase a b) na funkci, kterou Václav Klaus vykonává (předseda ODS, předseda vlády, prezident republiky). Z vymezení výzkumného zájmu pak plyne výzkumná otázka, která zní: Dochází ve veřejných projevech Václava Klause a v jeho argumentaci k určitým tématům od roku 1995 až do současnosti k proměnám? Pokud ano, k jakým? Důraz tak bude v analýze projevů kladen zejména na identifikaci klíčových slov, užívaných symbolů, abstraktních figur, metafor a generalizací, negativity, způsobu používání osobních zájmen (já vs. my) atd. Metodologicky příspěvek vychází z metody analýzy diskurzu. Analytickou jednotkou je "samostatný" projev, tedy veřejné vystoupení, kde do Klausova projevu nevstupují žádné třetí strany (např. novináři - do analýzy tak nebudou zahrnuty rozhovory, debaty ani žádné jiné podobné formáty) a dá se tedy očekávat, že budou obsahovat jen to, co Václav Klaus v dané chvíli považoval za relevantní.

Abstract (in English)

Research on political speeches is often made in countries with directly elected president, typically in the USA. However political speech is one of the few ways how Czech president can influence the public opinion. Therefore this research is focused on the analysis of Vaclav Klaus' speeches. Our aim is to identify figures of speech, changes in his position on analyzed themes, and to identify some characteristic features. We also focus on the changes of the speeches structures, of rhetorical figures and of the contents depending on a) the time, b) the themes and c) the Klaus' function (party leader and prime minister or president). So our main research question is: Are there any significant changes in Vaclav Klaus' speeches? And if so, what changes? Further research questions are: What changes on themes can we find according to Klaus' function or electoral cycle and what rhetorical figures does he use? The research is based on the combination of qualitative and quantitative content analysis of Klaus' speeches on his website in the period from 1995 to the summer of 2012. The unit of analysis is a public speech which is not influenced by any other person.
