The thesis provides a comprehensive examination of the operations of private military companies, with a particular focus on Wagner PMCs (private military companies). In the current context of international conflict and civil unrest, the role and significance of private military actors are becoming increasingly prominent. To gain a deeper understanding of this phenomenon, the research adopts an analytical approach grounded in the neorealist framework. This approach allows for a more detailed examination of the complex dynamics between states and these private military organizations, exemplified by the case of Wagner PMCs. Furthermore, the study examines the legislative framework that governs the operations of such private military entities. An analysis of this legislative landscape enables us to identify features of the legal standing of these organizations, as well as to assess their adherence to international laws and norms.
