Abstract
Full disk encryption tools were designed to protect the privacy of the growing amount of sensitive data stored on computers. As with every piece of software, these utilities are also prone to bugs and security vulnerabilities. Fuzz testing is a proven and efficient way to discover and locate such mistakes. Zadání práce
The thesis should analyze using of fuzzing techniques for the implementation in disk encryption utility (cryptsetup)[1] that implements various disk encryption formats on Linux.
The selected approach should be implemented through OSS-Fuzz project [2].
The student should
- get familiar with and study available resources for fuzz testing,
- analyze and describe the possibility of using fuzzing techniques for the cryptsetup project,
- propose, discuss and implement selected techniques with the OSS-Fuzz framework,
- integrate the solution into the project CI pipeline,
- evaluate the solution and assess the results from testing.
The student should be familiar with C code for low-level system programming and GitLab/GitHub CI.
