Tato práce pojednává o tématu srozumitelnosti méně známých anglických dialektů mezi studenty s výbornou úrovní anglického jazyka. Byly vybrány dva dialekty severní Anglie, Scouse a Geordie, se kterými studenti obecně nemají příliš zkušeností. Zadání práce
The objective of the thesis is to investigate intelligibility of lesser-known dialects among high level students of English. Two representatives of such kinds of dialects, Geordie and Scouse, have been chosen to demonstrate how their comprehension differs from what students usually perceive as standart English. The theory deals with the description of the dialects mentioned above with a demonstration of unique vocabulary, different spelling, distinctive sounds etc. The practical part is based on presenting recordings of these dialects to students of the first and third year of Lower Secondary School Teacher Training in English Language and Literature and comparing their results in order to determine the variables which influence better understanding of lesser-known dialects.
