Abstract

The thesis is dealing with the issue of minorities in Wesker’s The Merchant and Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice (MV). Wesker’s The Merchant is Wesker’s answer to Shakespeare as a reaction to anti-Semitism in MV. Thesis description
The bachelor thesis will analyse Arnold Wesker's drama The Merchant. The way of dealing with the Jewish theme that occurs in The Merchant will be compared to Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. At the end other examples of adapting the character of Shylock in other plays will be considered.
