The final thesis Nationalist representation in the novels of Maeve Binchy and Nora Roberts aims to depict Ireland and its nation in the analysis of the selected novels – Jewels of the Sun, Tara Road and Minding Frankie. Following the claim that the nation refers "both to the modern nation-state and to something more ancient[...]- a local community, domicile, family, condition of belonging" (Brennan in Homi Bhaba, 1990, 45), she will possibly comment on an transatlantic shift in seeing Ireland from within and from the USA.
