Abstract
Telomerase is type of reverse transcriptase, which uses its own RNA subunit as a template for telomeric repeats synthesis. Telomeric repeats are bound to the 3‘ end of the telomere. The main function of telomerase RNA is specification of telomeric repeats and creating the scaffold for other telomerase subunits, telomere-binding proteins, telomere-associated proteins and telomeric DNA.
