This master’s thesis presents a chaîne opératoire analysis of the forming methods of Linear Pottery Culture ceramics from the house complex D27 at the site Těšetice-Kyjovice “Sutny”. The aims of the thesis are:

1. to identify variability in ceramic forming methods at the level of a presumed household;

2. by examining the relationship between morpho-stylistic features and forming methods, to shed light on the organization of ceramic production at the settlement;

3. by analysing the relationship between decorative motifs on ceramics and learning networks, to clarify the social significance of these decorative motifs; and

4. by placing the results in a macro-regional context, to reveal continuities and discontinuities in technological traditions during the Neolithisation of Europe.

The thesis contributes to answering questions concerning intra- and inter-settlement interactions, mechanisms of cultural transmission of ceramic decoration and its social significance, the organization of ceramic production, and the dynamics of the Neolithisation of the European continent.
