This study looks at how transnational migration affects Igbo families, focusing on how they communicate, maintain their culture, and adjust family roles. It explores how Igbo migrants stay connected with their families in Nigeria while living in other countries. Through interviews, the study finds that technology, like WhatsApp, Zoom, and Facebook, plays a crucial role in helping families keep in touch. Even though they are far apart, digital communication helps maintain emotional bonds and keeps cultural practices alive. The findings also show that migration has changed traditional family roles. Women, especially those living abroad, are taking on more responsibilities, including financial support and decision-making. At the same time, men are becoming more involved in the emotional aspects of family life. The study also reveals how Igbo migrants continue to preserve their culture, like teaching their children the Igbo language and celebrating Igbo traditions, even while adapting to life in a new country. Using theories of transnational families and cultural integration, the study explains how Igbo migrants maintain strong ties to both their home and host countries. It shows that migration doesn’t break family bonds but changes how families interact and adapt to new challenges. This research highlights the strength and flexibility of Igbo families in a globalized world, as they balance keeping their culture alive while adjusting to new roles and expectations.
