Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to describe the air traffic simulation platform that is part of the VirtualAir open-source project. The simulation platform is built on the High Level Architecture standard for distributed simulation and it is built from an open-source components. Thesis description
- Briefly describe the M&S HLA 1.3 simulation environment and the architecture of the 3D airspace visualization module that you developed in your bachelor thesis.
- Integrate the 3 commonly used flight simulators (FlightGear, X-Plane a Microsoft Flight Simulator X) into the HLA 1.3 environment. Evaluate a simulation fidelity for the MITRE and SISO federation object models (FOM).
- Develop a HLA 1.3 compatible system for automated flight simulation, driven by a flight plan. This system shall support parallel simulation of multiple flights, fast-time simulations and control of individual flights using selected CPDLC commands.
- Describe and evaluate the resulting simulation environment: compare it with similar systems; evaluate the building compoments and their possible alternatives. Decribe compatibility issues that you detected between the components, object models and data set.
